Every year, large sums of money end up held in the names of specific people who don’t know about it. The various third parties who end up holding those funds, both governmental and private, are generally obligated to hold them, but not to seek out the people they belong to. Our work is to do the research that closes that gap.
A simple service for a complicated problem
It is sometimes possible, with enough work, to establish from records alone that a sum of money is being held under a name that matches yours, or matches a relative’s. What those records will not tell you, in any practical way, is how to recover it. The procedural path is buried in statutes, local rules, and forms that vary by jurisdiction. The custodian has no obligation to find you.
We do the research, identify who is owed the funds, locate them, and walk them through the recovery process. We work on a contingency: if we don’t recover the funds, you don’t owe us anything.
Step One
We find the funds
Our research identifies dormant balances held under names whose owners appear to be unaware that any of it exists.
Step Two
We find the owner
We trace records to identify the person or estate legally entitled to the funds, then reach out to share what we’ve found.
Step Three
We help recover them
If you choose to work with us, we assist with the paperwork, evidence of entitlement, and follow-through required to release the funds, in exchange for an agreed share of the recovery.
What sets this service apart
No upfront cost
We are paid only out of funds we successfully recover. If recovery fails, you owe nothing.
Attorney-owned company
The principals are practicing attorneys licensed in Ohio. We bring research discipline and a clear understanding of evidence and procedure to every case.
Written agreement
Nothing is verbal. Before we disclose the details of what we’ve found, the terms are in writing: the portion of the proceeds you assign to us, how funds will be distributed, and exactly what each side has agreed to do. Everything is explained until clear. Nothing is left vague and no question of yours is left unanswered. We move ahead when you understand what we’re doing.
No pressure to engage
If after reviewing our terms you decide they aren’t for you, you decline and we move on. We don’t follow up aggressively, and we don’t bill you for the time we’ve already spent.
“Why didn’t anyone tell me about this before?”
The honest answer is that the various third parties that end up holding unclaimed funds are required to hold the money, not to hunt down the people it belongs to. Even where matching information is technically available, it is rarely enough on its own to make a successful claim. There’s a gap between “money exists under your name” and “money is in your bank account,” and that gap is where our work happens.
You should never engage anyone whose identity and credentials you can’t verify. We provide ours plainly: the names of the principals, their Ohio bar admissions, and the means to confirm both independently. What we don’t disclose before engagement are the specifics that would let you act on the claim: where the funds are, what they arose from, what custodian holds them, and what is required to release them. That information is the work product we offer, and we share it once the engagement agreement is signed.
